Startups Fun Facts: Jeff Bezos used doors instead of desks at early days of Amazon.

In the nascent days of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, driven by a necessity for frugality, pioneered a culture of resourcefulness that left an indelible mark on the company’s ethos. With limited financial resources at his disposal, Bezos ingeniously opted for a pragmatic yet unconventional solution to furnish the workspace for his fledgling team.

So Amazon’s few early employees got doors instead of desks. Jeff needed to be frugal, and found a cheap solution — Binding a door as the desktop and four-by-fours for legs. Why ? Simple doors were way cheaper than actual desks, and when you are on a tight budget, as an entrepreneur you try to find cheaper ways.
