Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. – Sir Francis Bacon

Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand–and melting like a snowflake…

Sir Francis Bacon

Francis Bacon January 22, 1561- April 09, 1626, was an English philosopher and statesman who served as Attorney General and as Lord Chancellor of England. His works are seen as contributing to the scientific method and remained influential through the later stages of the scientific revolution. Bacon has been called the father of empiricism. He argued for the possibility of scientific knowledge based only upon inductive reasoning and careful observation of events in nature. Most importantly, he argued that science could be achieved by the use of a skeptical and methodical approach whereby scientists aim to avoid misleading themselves.

This quote reminds me of Steve Job’s quote about death.

Generally this quote can be classified in the take action category.
Inaction is the greatest risk of all – Tim Ferris
Dale Carnegie – Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage.
The only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking any risks – Mark Zuckerberg
To achieve a goal, you must start working towards achieving it.
The only impossible journey is the one you never begin – Tony Robbins

Put differently, you are not going to live an eternity, start doing what you want to do now.

However Sir Francis Bacon, puts it in a more eloquent and poetic way.
