It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power! – Robert Kiyosaki
I am a fan of Robert Kiyosaki, and by being so, i tend to agree with most of what he says … However this quote makes sense, even if it is contrary to the popular opinion, “that you should talk about your goal”.
It’s not what you say out of your mouth that determines your life, it’s what you whisper to yourself that has the most power!
– Robert Kiyosaki
Business wise:
This quote is basically comparing the power of telling your friends VS the power of motivating your self and setting goals.
We hear a lot about the importance of talking about your projects and plans pre-launch and post launch. I personally find no value in that, unless you are talking to potential partners, investors, or trying to get some coverage.
Talking to friends can help you improve on a badly conceived product. But it should not be for motivation, as it can create some social pressure at the beginning, but that won’t last long.
Life wise:
What you convince yourself is what drives your motivation and ideology. What you say is what you judge can be said or need to be said, all while factoring the receiving audience into the equation.
In other words, what you say might be partially untrue, while what you tell yourself is your real truth. And it is always your real truth that has the power to determine your life.
