The original quote comes from Mila, a 2-4 year old, and is People running and not getting anywhere and was referring to people in the gym running on a treadmill :

And maybe be a bit more philosophical about it than Mila …
People running and going nowhere, is the reality of the rat race. We work 9 to 5 or even 9 to 9, sometimes multiple jobs to pay bills.
People often forget setting goals, goals that would make them escape the rat race and enjoy life a bit more.
